Navigating the hardware supply crunch in 2026
Over the last few months, we have been closely monitoring global supply chain dynamics for servers, especially around GPUs, memory, storage, and networking components.
Based on what we are seeing from manufacturers and suppliers worldwide, the second half of 2026 is shaping up to be a very challenging period for server availability, driven mainly by the continued acceleration of AI workloads and large-scale data center expansions.
The impact goes beyond longer lead times. Pricing pressure is also expected to increase as demand outpaces supply across key components. This affects not only high-end AI configurations but also traditional CPU-based servers, which are being indirectly impacted by capacity shifts at the manufacturing level.
At Latitude.sh, we have been proactively securing inventory over the past few quarters. More than 5,000 new servers have been purchased and are either already in production or scheduled for deployment in the second quarter of 2026.
This gives us a solid near-term buffer, but it does not eliminate the broader risks expected for the rest of the year if hardware demand continues at the current pace.
Our recommendation is simple: plan early.
If you're already expecting operational growth, new projects, regional expansion, or hardware upgrades throughout the year, now is the time to prepare for it. Waiting too long may result in limited availability and even higher costs.
During the COVID period, we faced a very similar situation, and customers who planned ahead and worked closely with our team secured the infrastructure they needed, even in a highly constrained market. Based on what we're hearing from our leading vendors and manufacturing partners, the coming months could be just as tight.
The good news is that we already know how to navigate this type of scenario, and by planning for capacity in advance, we can continue supporting your growth with predictable costs and server availability.
So reach out to your designated account manager to discuss your 2026 needs. If you don't have one yet, you can contact sales@latitude.sh, and we'll connect you with an expert.
Our team is available to work with you on capacity planning and reservation strategies to reduce exposure to shortages and price increases over the coming quarters.
