# Power management

To power cycle your server, go to the server's overview page and click on the Power Cycle dropdown. Choose one of the available options.

On shutdown and reboot operations, the platform tries to gracefully shut down the machine before booting it again.

If the graceful shutdown operation fails, a subsequent request is sent to forcefully shut it down. If you prefer to manage this yourself, use the [power cycle endpoint](https://www.latitude.sh/docs/api-reference/create-server-action).

<Note title="Heads up">
  Shutting down a server does not pause billing. To avoid charges, you have to delete the server
  instead.
</Note>
